LookGig Privacy Policy V1.0
1. Scope
This policy explains how LookGig processes personal data of customers, workers and website/support users.
2. Data we process
Depending on how you use LookGig, we may process:
- account and contact data such as name, email and phone;
- role and profile information;
- worker identity-verification material, including government-ID information and selfie/image evidence where required;
- worker bank/IBAN information for payout;
- job, booking, district, service, rate, timing and status data;
- payment identifiers, payment status and transaction records; full card details are handled by the payment provider rather than stored by LookGig;
- support messages, complaints and dispute evidence;
- security, fraud, device, technical and audit logs;
- optional feedback and service-quality information.
3. Why we process data
We process data to:
- create and secure accounts;
- match customers with workers;
- operate bookings and job execution;
- verify worker identity and required trade credentials;
- authorize, capture, refund and reconcile payments;
- pay workers;
- provide customer support through MOTHER and operational review;
- prevent fraud, abuse and safety incidents;
- resolve complaints and disputes;
- meet accounting, tax, consumer-protection and legal obligations;
- improve reliability and service quality.
4. Legal bases
Depending on the processing, the legal basis may be:
- performance of a contract or steps requested before a contract;
- compliance with a legal obligation;
- legitimate interests such as platform security, fraud prevention, service reliability and dispute defence, balanced against individual rights;
- consent where the law requires consent.
LookGig does not treat consent as the legal basis where another basis is more appropriate.
5. Worker identity verification
V1 requires workers to be at least 18 and to complete government-ID plus selfie/manual identity verification before the first paid booking.
LookGig does not claim or offer routine criminal-record/background verification in V1.
Identity material is restricted to authorized verification/operations access and retained only as long as necessary for verification, fraud prevention, dispute/legal needs and applicable law.
6. Payments
Payments may be processed by Stripe or another approved payment processor.
LookGig stores transaction references, amounts, statuses and settlement information needed to operate and audit bookings, but does not intentionally store full payment-card credentials.
7. Service providers
LookGig uses service providers for hosting, databases/authentication, payments, security, communications and support infrastructure. Current core infrastructure may include Vercel, Supabase and Stripe.
Providers process data under contractual and legal safeguards appropriate to their role.
8. International transfers
Where a service provider processes data outside the EEA, LookGig will rely on an applicable lawful transfer mechanism and appropriate safeguards where required.
9. Retention
We do not keep personal data indefinitely.
Typical rules include:
- active-account data: while the account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for security/dispute needs;
- booking/payment/accounting records: retained as required by Estonian accounting/tax law, commonly seven years for relevant records;
- support/dispute records: retained for the period needed to resolve and defend the matter and meet legal obligations;
- identity-verification material: minimized and deleted or de-identified when no longer required for verification, fraud/legal defence or statutory duties.
More detailed operational retention rules are in DATA_RETENTION_RIGHTS_POLICY_V1.
10. Your rights
Subject to GDPR and applicable law, you may have rights to:
- access your personal data;
- correct inaccurate data;
- request deletion;
- restrict or object to processing;
- receive portable data where applicable;
- withdraw consent where processing relies on consent;
- complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon).
Some information cannot be deleted immediately where LookGig must retain it for accounting, tax, fraud, dispute or other legal reasons.
11. Automated support
MOTHER may explain approved LookGig policies and assist with ordinary support.
MOTHER is not authorized to make discretionary compensation, liability, sanction, fraud, safety or legal decisions.
Cases outside approved policy are escalated.
12. Security
LookGig uses access controls, authentication, logging, least-privilege practices and technical safeguards appropriate to the service. No internet system can guarantee absolute security.
13. Children
LookGig V1 worker accounts are 18+.
Childcare/nanny jobs are not launch-enabled in V1 pending enhanced safeguarding.
14. Changes
Material changes will be versioned and published with an updated effective date. Cases are assessed against the policy version applicable at the relevant time where appropriate.
